Vaduvoor , A town situated in between Tanjore and Mannargudi in Tanjore-Mannargudi Highway(25 Km from Tanjore and 14 Km from Mannargudi )
Living just 60 kms away from this place,We doesn’t even know about its existence.When we went to Tanjore Big temple, there is no space to park our vehicle(Whenever I go , I wonder why there is no crowd in this Magnificent temple and can’t explain how much happy I was to see that crowd.. is another story ), so we just looked for some place to spend some time there and got to Vaduvoor, which i will never regret.
There is a Lake and a View point from where we can watch the birds.Though we tried to get down, the officials did not allow us to walk far.
The Sanctuary attracts more than 40 species of water birds and during the months of December , January we can spot a lot of foreign migratory birds (nearly 20,000 birds belonging to 38 species) from US and Europe can be seen.
Unfortunately we visited in the month of March and spotted only very few species like Painted stork, Kingfisher,Pond Heron and few more.
There is a famous Ram temple(Kothandaramar) , located beside the sanctuary.
Ideal time to visit this place is early in the morning before 6:30 or after 5:30 in the evening.
One can also view some dramatic sunrise / sunset from the view point.
Our return journey was filled with Birds chirping music and it was heavenly ❤ ❤
